Joining a fun run is exciting! I’ve been doing it since 2010 and had my first full marathon (26.22 miles) back in 2015. I run whenever I can even when I’m on a trip. The beach? Yes! The trail? Absolutely! A foreign city? Well, unless there’s a running event!
From the aesthetic benefits to mental perks, there’s a slew of benefits specific to running that together make a pretty strong case for anyone to consider becoming a runner. Here are 5 reasons why you should join a fun run.
You should join a fun run because it improves health.
Regular running and jogging is a good way to improve your health and fitness. It provides a great cardiovascular workout and makes the heart stronger. It increases the capacity of the blood circulation and of the respiratory system. This is essential for maintaining good fitness. It also speeds up the digestive system and can help to relieve digestive problems. Many people who live a sedentary lifestyle develop digestive problems that can be improved with a healthier diet and some regular exercise.
You should join a fun run because it helps lose weight.
It is one of the best forms of exercises for losing or maintaining a consistent weight. It burns about 100 calories per mile for a 150-pound person. Because running also builds muscle mass, your resting metabolism will increase, which means that you’ll burn more calories at rest. If you combine running with a healthy diet, you’ll definitely notice a difference in the way you look and feel.
You should join a fun run because it boosts confidence.
Along the same lines as personal appearance, physical fitness has a huge effect on self confidence. If you’re out of shape, you’ll feel insecure, unattractive, and less energetic. By running, you improve your physical appearance, energize yourself, and accomplish something positive. Having the discipline to run or jog not only makes you feel better, it creates positive momentum that you can build on the rest of the day.
You should join a fun run because it relieves stress.
Running can be the perfect distraction when you’re dealing with a difficult situation. And the endorphins your body releases during running can give your mood a natural boost.
You should join a fun run because it gives you a sense of accomplishment.
An accomplishment, even as simple as finishing a good 5 kilometer run is something that you’ve done to the best of your ability, that has taken a certain level of skill, determination or hard work to complete. Not only does it make you ‘feel good’ but also gives you the motivation to reach your goals or aim for bigger goals. 10 KM, anyone?

I was planning on joining a 5k pretty soon, but with the confinement I couldn’t train.
Fun Run used to be part of my life because of our annual school activities. I miss it a lot (though I’m more in the outdoor these past few days). Couldn’t agree more with your mentioned reasons!
A 5k is a great goal for those of us who are so out of shape! Great ideas!
I’m not very sure if I would enjoy running, but I should give it a try. Thanks for sharing this post.
Running is yet to be my friend. But I hope to keep trying and your post is helping.
