When I travel, I like to prepare ahead of time, make lists, and do research to ensure that my trip is as enjoyable, memorable, and as hassle-free as possible. When I do this, I also make certain that I receive the best deals. The following are TRUSTED companies and websites that I personally use.
TRIP ADVISOR – I enjoy ‘Top 10 Lists,’ so every time I plan a trip, I look for the must-see attractions as well as off-the-beaten-path in each country. The website also includes reviews and advice from other travelers.
WIKIVOYAGE – One of the best online sources for planning trips, WikiVoyage has helped me get a an overview of how the country is like from it’s tourists attractions to how to get around the cities.
CIA WORLD FACTBOOK – I like to get to know more about the places that I travel to.
ADVENTURES & TOURS
KLOOK – I consider Klook as my best friend when it comes to securing tickets to countries’ attractions & activities, WiFi router rentals, and train passes for a hassle-free travel.
GETYOURGUIDE – Another good source for securing tickets. I use it as secondary to Klook.
FINDING CHEAP FLIGHTS
TRAVELOKA – For booking local flights in the Philippines, I use Traveloka because always provide cheap options. They also have a ‘Rewards’ program so you can get discounts on flight, hotel, and experience from their top merchants.
SKY SCANNER – My go-to search engine when it comes to booking international flights. It that enables travelers to compare fares across the Internet by collating hundreds of flight information and narrowing them so you don’t have to switch tabs. They also have a ‘Get Price Alerts’ option in which, Sky Scanner gives you alert via email once the prices from your desired destination changes.
GOOGLE FLIGHTS – Pretty much like how I use Sky Scanner. I mostly use it as my secondary.
SLEEPING IN AIRPORTS – Whenever I have long-haul flights, I make sure to check this site.
AIRBNB – My go-to when it comes to looking for budget accommodations and deals especially in Asia. So far, most of my stays with Airbnb’s partners were clean and safe. Most of the owners that I’ve dealt with were friendly and accommodating.
BOOKING.COM – For hotel reservations both within the Philippines and international I always use Booking.Com. Most of the time when looking for accommodations, I try to open other websites and compare the prices. I found that most of the time Booking.Com’s offer are cheaper.
NORDVPN – Call me paranoid but whenever I travel our of the country I always make sure that I’m secure specially when connecting to public hotspots. NORDVPN is what I use.
