Polly Amora - Golden Island Senorita

Hi, I’m Polly Amora — the woman behind Golden Island Señorita, a travel and lifestyle blog created for curious souls who want to see more of the world without sacrificing substance or sanity.

By profession, I work in the fast-paced world of B2B, where strategy, structure, and deadlines are part of daily life. But beyond the emails, meetings, and corporate chaos, I’ve always been drawn to something bigger: the thrill of travel, the beauty of discovery, and the stories that come from stepping outside the familiar.

And that’s exactly what this space is all about.

Golden Island Señorita is where I share my love for travel, thoughtful planning, honest recommendations, memorable experiences, and beautifully chaotic adventures — all with a little wit, a little elegance, and a very real understanding that not every trip goes according to plan.

Because sometimes the best stories start with a delayed flight and an overpriced airport sandwich.

I started Golden Island Señorita because I wanted a space that felt both aspirational and useful.

A place where travel isn’t just about pretty photos and vague “wander more” quotes, but also about:

  • finding the right destination,
  • building realistic itineraries,
  • making smart travel choices,
  • enjoying meaningful experiences,
  • and learning how to travel well.
  • No, I will not encourage you to quite your job to travel the world.

I believe you can be career-driven and adventure-hungry.
You can work hard, dream big, romanticize your layovers, and still find time to chase sunsets in another country.

This blog is my way of documenting that balance — the beautiful intersection of ambition and adventure.

Detailed destination content designed to help you travel smarter, not just scroll longer.

Hotels, restaurants, experiences, and places — with real opinions and zero unnecessary sugar-coating.

Travel plans for real people, real budgets, real time constraints, and real energy levels.

Because luxury energy does not always require luxury spending.

A little behind-the-scenes of the woman behind the passport stamps, planning tabs, and occasional travel chaos.

When I’m not hustling through spreadsheets, chasing flights, or filling this blog with travel magic, I’m usually doing something active, creative, or suspiciously over-scheduled.

I love:

  • Running (mostly from responsibilities)
  • Surfing (or at least trying to look graceful)
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Boxing (self-defense, or dramatic life reenactments)
  • Learning new languages (because mispronouncing French is still romantic)
  • Writing (letters, lists, and long-winded blog posts)
  • Organizing (because chaos is only cute in theory)
  • Teaching drums to kids (equal parts wholesome, loud, and oddly therapeutic)

And of course, my life would be incomplete without my tiny furry board of directors: three sassy kitties and one energetic pup, who contribute absolutely nothing to bills but everything to chaos, cuddles, and joy.

So if my content sometimes reads like it was written by someone juggling passport dreams, work deadlines, pet hair, and 47 open browser tabs, well… that’s because it absolutely was.

Golden Island Señorita is for:

  • travelers who want smart and practical travel advice
  • women building both a life and a career
  • readers who love travel, food, culture, and planning
  • curious minds who want more than surface-level recommendations
  • anyone who enjoys travel content with a little wit, warmth, and personality

If you love beautiful places, smart planning, and meaningful adventures, you’ll feel right at home here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do you travel?
I aim to visit at least one new country and three different provinces in the Philippines every year. I’ve also got a soft spot for revisiting places I’ve already been—there’s something special about experiencing a familiar destination with fresh eyes. It’s not always about ticking off new spots; sometimes, it’s about deepening the connection with ones you already love.

What’s your favorite country aside from the Philippines?
Japan & France

Where are you from?
I’m from the Philippines.

How many languages can you speak?
I speak four languages (Filipino, English, French, & Russian).

Do you accept quest posting?
Unfortunately, I do not accept guest postings at this time.

What sources of income does your blog have?
I earn a modest commission through brand collaborations, affiliate marketing, and a sprinkle of ad revenue. It’s not a gold mine, but every little bit helps! And honestly, I’m so grateful to everyone who supports the blog—whether it’s by clicking a link, reading a post, or just cheering me on. It means the world!

What do you consider to be most rewarding aspect of being a travel blogger?
It’s the incredible feeling of knowing I’ve inspired someone to explore the world. Every time I receive a message saying my blog helped someone plan their trip or discover a destination they wouldn’t have found otherwise, it absolutely makes my day. Moments like those remind me why I do this—I’m not just sharing stories; I’m helping people create their own.

How much time do you put into writing content?
On average, I’d say about three hours per post—from brainstorming ideas to drafting the article and giving it a good polish. Some days the words flow like coffee in the morning, other days it’s a bit more of a wrestling match with the keyboard—but hey, that’s all part of the creative process.

Is blogging your main source of income? How do I start a blog that makes money?
I wish it were! But nope—I still have a full-time job and a few offline side hustles to keep the bills paid and the coffee flowing. Blogging is more of a passion project for now, though it does bring in a little income here and there.

  1. I came across your article about traveling while running a business and thought I’d check your profile. Not everyone has the same mindset, the same goals, or even the same personality type when it comes to their careers and handling money specially the Millennials. Some would rather go in debt just to impress others on Facebook that could actually careless one way or the other. Nice work, young lady.

    1. Hi Anthony! I am aware that millennials get a bad rap when it comes to work or finances but I can’t blame you. Thank you very much for dropping by and for the kind words. <3

  3. I just found your webiste! And I have to say I really enjoyed it, its definetly one of my new reference sites. I came across it today when I googled “reasons why you should travel alone” and after reading it made me feel so light and wonderfull. I found other amazing topics, like “habits of mentally strong woman” and usually I saty away from sites like those because often they make the reader feel like your not good enough or like they are taking a dig at your persona. Your however, felt like it was close friend or family member giving me advice but still assertive and I really like that. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Angela! I’m really happy to hear that. Thank you very very much! <3
