Toni & Sergio, McKinley Hill | Foodventure

One of the things that I love about going to Venice Grand Canal is the variety of restaurants that you can choose from. One of the places that I love to eat at is in Toni & Serio,  an Italian gastro pub with a Spanish twist.

The ambiance is that of a typical Italian restaurant. The chairs, tables, lighting and wall design. For me, it is a perfect spot for a romantic dinner date. Just be sure to get a reservation outside for the place can be a bit busy at night.

I’ve been here several times and here are some of my favorites.

Seafood Pasta (435.00 php)
The price for a plate of seafood pasta was a bit expensive for the amount of pasta on the plate. A few mussels in a shell as well as prawn in the shell could be added to the plate, although the sauce was phenomenal.

Paella Dela Casa (Good for 2 – 620.00 php)
One of their best sellers. It is good balance in taste and serving for 480.00. You can see the prawns and they really put fresh ingridients. You can eat the rice alone with all the seafood taste in it – its a seafood party in your tongue. I’m surprised that the serving is quite big for 2 persons.

Roasted Pork Belly (495.00 php)
I am guessing they ‘slow-cook’ their meat. It is soft and tender, and it taste really good. You will distinctly taste spices and herbs particularly the combination of lemongrass, leeks, salt, pepper, and garlic as stuffing.

Tre Salsiccia (470.00)
The pizza was aromatic as they come. You could already smell the cheese and meat as the server was approaching your table. It was heavy from the sauce and toppings and each slice held up very well, barely flopping if at all. And it tasted really good.

Pizzaiolo Burger (370.00 php)
I ordered this because I was curious. You can definitely taste both the pizza and the burger in it and it’s really good together surprisingly. Oh, and it’s beef.

Burittos Favorito (275.00 php)
I love Toni & Sergio’s version of Chicken burrito. If you’re in the mood for something simple, something light, and something chicken, some sauce, then get the chicken burrito. The fries isn’t too salty and it’s not ‘hollow’ compared to other fries.

Strawberry Shake (130.00 php)
The strawberry shake is topped with a big dollop of whipped cream. I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s a bit minty. I love it.

The staff are, if anything, even friendlier than at the start, which is pretty amazing considering how warm & enthusiastic they were then. They’re also prompt when you call them.

Overall the preparation of the food, the presentation and the taste it self was very satisfactory. It  was all served in a reasonable time. Reason why I keep coming back. If you haven’t been here, it is definitly worth trying.

Bon appétit mon chéri!
