I had my first taste of Singaporean food when my partner and I spent a dinner date at Makan Makan Asian Food Village last year. It made a mark to me because the food is unique (and unbelievably delicious) and unlike anything I would be able to get at my local grocery or bakery.
A quick yet bloated dinner date at Singlish Cafe in Marikina (again). Jenn and I never got tired of searching for something new to eat. That night, we were on our way home but decided to pass by Lilac St. before the long drive to Makati.
First on the list is their Roti Prata that comes with their own curry sauce which is really good! It is fried to a golden crisp, and has a good mixture of crispiness and chewiness.
Roti Prata with Curry Sauce (P98)
The quality of their Char Kway Teow is good and consistent with lots of ingredients, including prawns, sausages, bean sprouts and chives. It’s sweet to taste which does seem to linger in your mouth for a few minutes.
Char Keay Teow (P168)
I (requested) had it cut right down the middle with the warm oozy cheese just flowing out. It really is juicy and tastes as good (and as juicy!).
Juicy Lucy Burger (P198)
For drinks, I had freshly-made Green Apple Shake. It is utterly refreshing especially after the flavorful, savoury meal we’d had.
Overall, the food is really tasty and price is very well worth it. I would definitely like to visit this place again try other dishes as well.
Bon appétit, mon chéri!
